The Ticunas used wooden ears with feathers or made with metal plates, the features of these implements distinguished the different clans and chiefs mainly wear ornaments such as bracelets of animal teeth, feathers and seeds.

Meaning of the word Ticuna

The Ticuna name was given to them by their neighbors and possibly means “black body” or “black face”, in honor of their custom of painting their skin with the black paint they get from the fruit of the huito. This tincture is used for the protection and purification of people in rituals. Alejandra Motta
